Seeking Candidates for the Open Board Position
Rene McBride, Superintendent of the Pacific Union School District, announced that applications for the open seat on the Governing Board will be available through October 19, 2022 at the District Office, 3001 Janes Road, Arcata, CA 95521.
Interested persons who live within the boundaries of the Pacific Union School District and who are registered voters are welcome to apply for the two existing vacancies. All applications will become public records upon receipt by the District.
Candidates will be interviewed in open session by the four current Governing Board members at a meeting scheduled for that purpose. Persons wanting to submit questions for the existing Board members to consider during interviewing should do so by 19, October.

National School Lunch Program (NSLP) forms:
While all meals are free for all students, the district needs an NSLP form from every family, regardless of qualification. Please print the form by clicking here and return it as soon as you can to the office. Please note, this form needs to be returned as a hard copy with a "wet" signature, so it is not available as a fillable pdf.
Sports at PU
Soccer:
Alex Puzz, school counselor, has organized intramural soccer teams and games happening at lunch during students’ recess.
Cross Country:
The Cross Country season is starting with its first meets this week!
On Tuesday September 27th there will be a meet at the Arcata Marsh starting at 4:00PM.
On Thursday September 29th there will be a meet at Redwood Park at 4:00PM.

Monday PU volleyball hosts Sunny Brae and on Wednesday PU travels to Zane.
PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports)
Pacific Union is a recipient within the California PBIS Coalition’s System of Recognition, reflecting excellence in the implementation of the core features of PBIS. We received the Silver Level this year. What is PBIS? Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based three-tiered framework to improve and integrate data, systems, and practices affecting student outcomes every day. PBIS creates a school where all students succeed.
Stencil Painting
On Saturday, 9/24, PTO hosted a stencil painting day to encourage active play on campus. Thanks to DHHS/CalFresh for lending us the large stencils and those who volunteered their time to add to our beautiful campus.

Buscando candidatos para el puesto vacante en la Junta
Rene McBride, Superintendente del Distrito Escolar Pacific Union, anunció que las solicitudes para el puesto vacante en la Junta Gobernante estarán disponibles hasta el 19 de octubre de 2022 en la Oficina del Distrito, 3001 Janes Road, Arcata, CA 95521.
Las personas interesadas que viven dentro de los límites del Distrito Escolar Pacific Union y que son votantes registrados pueden postularse para las dos vacantes existentes. Todas las solicitudes se convertirán en registros públicos una vez recibidas por el Distrito.
Los candidatos serán entrevistados en sesión abierta por los cuatro miembros actuales de la Junta de Gobierno en una reunión programada para tal fin. Las personas que deseen enviar preguntas para que los miembros existentes de la Junta las consideren durante la entrevista deben hacerlo antes del 19 de octubre.
Se pueden realizar consultas de ciudadanos calificados llamando a Rene McBride al 707-822-4619.
Formularios del Programa Nacional de Almuerzos Escolares (NSLP):
Todas las comidas son gratuitas para todos los estudiantes, el distrito necesita un formulario NSLP de cada familia, independientemente de su calificación. Imprima el formulario haciendo clic aquí y devuélvase lo antes posible a la oficina. Tenga en cuenta que este formulario debe devolverse como una copia impresa con una firma "húmeda", por lo que no está disponible como un PDF rellenable.
Deportes en PU
Fútbol:
Alex Puzz, consejero escolar, ha organizado equipos de fútbol intramuros y juegos durante el almuerzo durante el recreo de los estudiantes.
Cross Country:
¡La temporada de Cross Country está comenzando con sus primeros encuentros esta semana!
El martes 27 de septiembre habrá una reunión en Arcata Marsh a partir de las 4:00 p. m.
El jueves 29 de septiembre habrá una reunión en Redwood Park a las 4:00 p. m.

PBIS
(Intervenciones y apoyos conductuales positivos)
Pacific Union es un destinatario dentro del Sistema de Reconocimiento de la Coalición PBIS de California, lo que refleja la excelencia en la implementación de las características principales de PBIS. Recibimos el Nivel Plata este año. ¿Qué es PBIS? Las intervenciones y apoyos conductuales positivos (PBIS, por sus siglas en inglés) es un marco de tres niveles basado en evidencia para mejorar e integrar datos, sistemas y prácticas que afectan los resultados de los estudiantes todos los días. PBIS crea una escuela donde todos los estudiantes tienen éxito.
Pintura con plantillas
El sábado 24 de septiembre, la PTO organizó un día de pintura con plantillas para fomentar el juego activo en el campus. Gracias a DHHS/CalFresh por prestarnos las plantillas grandes ya aquellos que ofrecieron su tiempo para agregar a nuestro hermoso campus.
